Remote Handling Operations Engineer

Recruit 12 has an exciting opportunity for a Remote Handling Operations Engineer to expertise in the study, review, design, assembly, testing and training of complex bespoke remote handling systems for extremely hazardous environments. These systems are usually deployed in non-accessible areas to human personnel and as such are controlled at a distance with remote viewing and monitoring.

 

Your responsibilities for a Remote Handling Operations Engineer will include:

  • Instruct and train users based on training documentation
  • How to use Remote Handling equipment
  • How to use our tools and software to manage and prepare for operations
  • How to plan and undertake Remote Handling activities at a nuclear site
  • This role will require travel to Japan for an extended period, possibly 3 months (Japanese language skills not required)
  • Perform operational and kinematic analyses from initial concept to delivery in order to :
  • Capture and understand the unique challenge of each project environmental constraints as far as remote handling operations are concerns.
  • Inform and drive the design of bespoke complex electromechanical system and associated systems, such as tooling, viewing and lighting, and support systems
  • Highlight key remote handling tasks that require additional design validation and or testing
  • Continuously record and develop the operational description documents and operational method statement across the entire project lifecycle
  • Write reports and documents as an output of these remote handling studies
  • Participate in the design of electro-mechanical system that will enhance the remote handling operation.
  • Participate in the elaboration and supervision of tests in relation to validating some of the remote handling operation and remote handling interfaces
  • Working with the Remote Handling Operations team to stay up to date with, and implement, the latest technologies and tools to be used for Remote Handling studies and Remote Handling operations
  • Working with the Remote Handling Operations team to develop the company Remote Handling Design process to be always more efficient and robust

To be a successful candidate for a Remote Handling Operations Engineer  you will need:

  • Provide support to others when needed. Listen to ideas and opinions and encourage creativity, particularly where this relates to business improvement.
  • Demonstrate a good ability to solve problems both from a technical perspective
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, ideally coupled with a bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in engineering, science or related field of study.
  • Planning for Moving machinery operations: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably with hands-on experience.
  •  Good working knowledge of engineering principles and concepts and their application to solving technical challenges.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of deploying machinery in a nuclear environment
  • Experience with operating Dexterous manipulators
  • Mechanical or Electrical design -  Relevant experience in designing and manufacturing electromechanical system
