A fantastic new opportunity has arisen within a globally recognised automotive manufacturer and distributor for a Quality Manager

Our clients’ portfolio of clients includes some of the biggest vehicle manufacturers in the world. They have the solidity of some 30 years’ success in supplying reliable products to these Original Equipment Manufacturing giants and backed by this strength, have this requirement at their UK Headquarters.

Role

Reporting to the Managing Director and with Quality Engineers, Quality Inspectors and Quality & Environmental Administrators reporting in directly, the main purpose of the role is to continuously improve and develop quality systems and drive performance enhancements throughout the business and the two plants. To oversee and carry out the activities of our internal quality process audit functions at the facilities to assure ISO14001 and IATF16949 systems, processes, procedures and documentation are in place and functioning optimally.  Manage and oversee the warranty and customer concerns issues.

Main responsibilities:

• To strategically manage and develop the Quality resources, planning, work habits and methods to drive excellence throughout our quality systems and processes.
• To develop and implement all Quality policies and Quality/Environmental systems and
• To lead on-site audit activities as required at their operations.
• Responsibility for creating and maintaining internal audit schedule for sites by ensuring that internal audits are conducted by trained and competent staff on an acceptable level.
• To evaluate, train, develop/coach internal auditors to assure a knowledgeable audit team.
• To coordinate and support all internal audit schedules/activities.
• To improve organisational performance and quality standards and develop and implement plans to execute corrective, preventative and continuous improvement programmes.
• To develop, construct and control annual departmental budgets in agreement with executive management. This includes both overhead and capital costs.
• To track and communicate to relevant departments new environmental legislation requirements / changes.
• To lead and direct departmental Quality representatives responsible for staying abreast of modifications/changes/updates to quality system standards and ensure delivery of outstanding levels of service                                 
• To oversee/audit Corrective Action Request (CAR) process to ensure individual responsibilities regarding initiation and support the final closure of all open CAR’s within each facility are accomplished.
• To ensure all customer satisfaction metrics are maintained to acceptable levels in respect of Quality, Cost and Delivery.
• To ensure that suitable investigations are conducted to identify failure modes.

General responsibilities:

• To develop and encourage a positive working environment that makes a positive contribution to morale and staff retention.
• To set and agree clear and measurable goals and objectives for direct reports at their annual appraisal and monitor at regular intervals.
• To ensure all team members are fully trained, aware of their responsibilities and conduct all activities in a safe working manner.
• To conduct medium and long term resource planning activities.
• To provide direct support and guidance to other facilities.
• To take part in Customer facing visits both UK and oversees and cultivate a positive working relationship with all external customers.
• To inform the post holders Line Manager of any difficulties in actioning the above and agree resolution.
