Recruit 12 has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to be responsible for carrying out on-site operation and maintenance support on a range of industrial utilities equipment which includes CHP, Steam Boiler’s with associated plant, Pumps and Motors, Water Treatment plant including Softeners, Filtration Systems, Chemical Dosing, Air Compressors, Refrigeration Plant, Effluent Treatment Plant and Legionella Cooling towers (L8).

Your responsibilities as a Mechanical Technician will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on steam boilers and utilities plant. Compressed air systems, Cooling systems (L8), pumps and motors and valves.
  • Stripping and rebuilding various assets to allow for annual insurance inspections.
  • Routine Steam Boiler operational tasks to comply with legislation and company procedures.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities with ability to multi-skill where possible with a proven trade bias.
  • Carrying out reactive maintenance to quickly resolve issues and maintain plant production.
  • Ability to carry out fault diagnosis on mechanical systems (Water, condensate return, compressed air, nitrogen, CO2, LTHW, steam and refrigeration).
  • Maintenance and publication of plant quality records and reports
  • Implement Safe Systems of Work, to include Permit to Work, Risk Assessments and Method Statements in accordance with company procedures. Regular monitoring, supervision, and interaction of key sub-contractors
  • Ensuring compliance with the companies’ health and safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Strong customer focus with effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Working a flexible system to meet the demands of the business and team.

To be a successful candidate for the role Mechanical Technician you will need:

  • A strong proven engineering background within the CHP/Power Generation/multi-utility environment/ Engineering or Maintenance industry (Mechanical tradesperson)
  • Engineering time served apprenticeship. (Competent to work and repair Mechanical systems such as steam boilers, storage vessels, valves, pumps, and pipework systems (Screwed, flanged and welded)).
  • ONC or equivalent and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and capable of working unsupervised using their own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Full clean driving licence

Desirable

  • Knowledge of CHP and Steam Boiler plant, dual Fuel Burners, combustion control maintenance and testing.
  • Competent and experienced to carry out Mechanical fault finding and maintenance.
  • Experience of producing Method Statement / Risk Assessments for tasks.
  • Knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems.
  • Fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Water Treatment plant & equipment such as Effluent Treatment, Sand and carbon Filtration, Softeners and Brine tanks.
  • Competent or experience of working on Industrial Gas systems.
  • Steam Boiler competence training (BOAS or equivalent)
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
