Hours: 40 hrs a week, either 2pm-10pm Mon-Fri, or on rotating weeks 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm Mon-Fri, overtime available on both shift patterns
Recruit 12 has an exciting opportunity for a Goods Inward Inspector to work within the Quality Department on a permanent basis.
Your responsibilities as a Goods Inward Inspector will include:
- Carry out daily inspection of incoming parts in line with relevant sampling plans and procedures.
- Collect daily vendor returns from work centres ensuring the correct reject code is used and co-ordinate month end vendor return or authorised disposal.
- Use the appropriate gauges and measuring instruments to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements are taken.
- Conduct visual inspections using sample parts and approved master samples.
- Maintain inspection records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Carry out Heat Treatment inspection using Rockwell and Micro Vickers hardness testing equipment.
- Access all relevant databases to confirm any changes to component supply or inspection criteria.
- Carrying out containment of non-conforming product as required.
- Carry out general administration duties including raising of SCAR’s, review of inspection criteria for new parts and component switching levels.
- Communicate and report effectively to the Management Team and departments on the progress of activities under your administration.
- Ensure that any problems that may threaten production are escalated immediately to your Supervisor/Manager.
- Be proactive, challenging and determined to understand and eliminate root causes of problems.
- Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to daily tasks.
- Communicate clearly and concisely at all business levels.
- Demonstrate an attitude of continuous improvement and co-operation within the department.
- Ensure the department and surrounding environment is clean and tidy promoting 5S activity
To be a successful candidate as a Goods Inward Inspector you will need:
- Educated to GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent
- Has previously worked in a component inspection environment.
- Able to read detailed engineering drawings.
- Able to understand engineering drawing symbols and tolerances.
- Good working knowledge of measuring instruments and methods.
- Experience in material Hardness testing.
- Experience of recording and maintaining inspection record sheets.
