Buyer - Automotive Manufacturing

Recruit12 Engineering are excited to be presenting an excellent opportunity for a Buyer to join a a leading supplier to the automotive industry specialising in the design and manufacture of rear lamp lighting. This role is responsible for developing and implementing the commodity strategy for Purchased Electronic components or Plastic Moulded parts in line with business strategies; achieving cost reduction activity without compromising quality.

As a Buyer, your key roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assess, monitor, and identify the commercial risk to the business and Customers in order to provide sustainable supply of commodity parts
  •  Ensure to meet the time -bound targets for new projects; working efficiently with internal colleagues and/or suppliers
  • Implement the strategy and monitor the progress to ensure achieving cost down targets
  • Work with supplier systems, ensuring that relevant KPI measures are in place and regularly reviewed
  • Maintain regular contact with current / potential suppliers to develop / maintain commercially competitive business partnership
  • Work closely with others within the department, making a positive contribution to good team working and idea generation

To be successful in the position of Buyer, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Fully qualified or working towards CIPS
  • Business or Engineering degree (Advantageous)
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience working within a Manufacturing / Production environment; ideally within a Tier 1 Automotive facility
  • Hands-on negotiation skills
  • Hands-on supplier audit & quotation skills
  • Experience in Purchasing Electronics or Plastic Mouldings

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Worcestershire; easily accessible from Birmingham, Redditch, Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon.
